Kissing is very essential when it comes to the health of people. Kissing, although beneficial, but can also be a medium for the transmission of viruses and bacteria that cause diseases. Bacteria and viruses present in the saliva or blood of one person can spread to another through kissing.
Below are some diseases that can be transmitted through kissing.
Cold: They are spread by direct contact with the virus. Kissing an infected person results in direct contact with the secretions of his nose and throat.
Kiss disease: It is also known as glandular fever. it is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. This virus is transmitted through saliva and infection occurs through contact.
Cold sores: This is also caused by a virus, it can be transmitted through direct contact with the virus.
Hepatitis B: This can occur when the infected blood and saliva of the infected person come into direct contact with the blood or mucous membranes of another person, for instance, if the person has open sores in or around the mouth, kissing him or her will result in severe hepatitis.
Dental caries: This mostly affects newborn babies. Do the mouths of newborn babies lack the bacteria that prevents tooth decay? Kissing babies on the lips causes these bacteria to spread to them causing dental caries.
In as much as there are some diseases that can be transmitted through kissing, remember that there is no need to give up kissing for the sake of health because kissing itself is good for body.
