THE LAMP DEVOTION
Psalm 37:23-24
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. 24 Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand. 25 I have been young, and now am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. 26 He is ever merciful, and lends, and his descendants are blessed.
We all know that God’s love for humanity is unconditional. That is why for example he allows both the righteous and unrighteous to enjoy the natural resources in the same proportion. The righteous do not enjoy the sun or rain more than the unrighteous. We all breathe the same oxygen for our continued living. Nevertheless, the righteous enjoy special attention from the Lord.
Let’s call that special attention because it is not discrimination. It is God saying that he acknowledges how the righteous live their lives and is ready to affirm their acts of righteousness at any point in time. The righteous are not perfect, they err as all humans do, but their decision to walk in the ways of God brings them special attention and God upholds them with His right hand. It simply means God lifts them up from falling.
The passage continues to establish that not only do the righteous get that special attention; their descendants receive their portion of their fathers’ favor from the Lord as well. Practically this means that if your ways please the Lord, His special goodness to you will be extended to your children and their children as well.
Is it possible that some of the breakthroughs and favors you are receiving today are a result of your grandparents’ lives which pleased the Lord? Think about this for yourself and your children. Always remind yourself that God certainly pays attention to anyone living a righteous life. Walk-in righteousness.
Prayer
1. Thank God for blessing you even as an extension from your parents or even grandparents.
2. Pray for grace to receive God’s favor and have it extended to your children.
3. Father, please bless my children and their children with the same favor that You have given me today.
Declarations
I declare that I am enjoying God’s great blessings. God’s favor is my portion, and I am grateful. I declare that this favor is available for my children and their children if Jesus tarries. We shall be known as the family that loves the Lord and is blessed by Him in the name of Jesus.
