Hello again. Sorry, I took some time. I was ill. But today I will talk about something else!
You know what? It seems like every time there’s some new insight about this Mr. COVID o. It's one year into this pandemic, yet we’re still having much to learn about this virus and its long-term effects. More researches are going on, trying to find more on the repercussions of the virus on our whole body, and also on men’s sexual and reproductive health.
Researchers say that those men who survive COVID-19 may get erectile dysfunction (ED). They pointed out three contributing factors that could lead to the possibility of getting ED in men who have had the virus:
1. Overall poor health: When you have ED it means that there is an underlying problem. Men who have poor health are at higher risk for developing ED and also for having a severe reaction to COVID-19. Since the virus can cause lots of health issues, having general poor health is really a cause for concern both for ED and other complications.
So if you are a young man who was very healthy then abruptly develop erectile dysfunction, especially after contracting the COVID-19, then it is a sign of something more serious going on. Please have it looked at.
2. Circulatory effect: The circulatory system and the reproductive system are connected. So an Erectile function is a predictor of heart disease. It is also known that COVID-19 can cause hyper inflammation (Inflammation happens when something outside the body triggers your immune system to react. Like soldiers fighting invading enemies)throughout the body, especially in the heart and surrounding muscles.
Blood supply to the penis can become blocked or narrowed because of a new or worsened circulatory condition caused by the virus.
3. Getting a POSITIVE to COVID affects the mind: Our being active Sexually is closely associated with our mental health. The stress, anxiety, and depression caused by the virus and pandemic can be linked to sexual dysfunction and poor mood.
Another cause for concern about the research is the risk for testicular damage that can happen after one gets an infection with COVID-19. It’s however too early to tell if the damage is permanent, temporary or if it can affect fertility o. One thing is for sure, that age is an important aspect to consider, because that is a risk factor for developing both ED and a severe case of COVID-19.
So now we know that there are a number of different ways that the virus could cause erectile dysfunction, but much more research is needed before we know for sure.
Complications The virus Can Cause
-Blood clots
-Neurological issues,
-Damage to the heart
-Lungs
-Kidneys and now
-negative consequences to men’s sexual and Reproductive health.
Many patients also suffer from symptoms for months, referred to as "long-haulers", even though they had prior good health.
So it’s so important to continue to follow the safety guidelines(social distances, hand washing, mask-wearing, having a bath whenever you spend long hours outdoors, e.t.c), get vaccinated when you’re eligible, and protect those around you.
