The Blues (Chelsea) have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League the 2021/2022 season, even after losing 2:1 at Aston Villa.
Mason Mount had the best of the early opportunities, firing over as he missed the chance to put Chelsea ahead. There were several chances created, they had a total of 6 shots on target with a total of nine shots compared to the villa with 3 shots on target with a total of nine shots.
Aston Villa took the lead in the 43rd minutes with a goal from Bertrand Traore from a low corner from Matt Targett's. Bertrand played a one-time shot that went in off the underside of the crossbar. Edouard Mendy got injured in the process of trying to stop the ball from scoring and was replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga in the 46th minutes.
Aston Villa got a penalty after Jorginho brought down Bertrand Traore in the penalty box. Anwar El Ghazi converted the penalty to Kepa's left in the 52nd minutes.
Timo Werner scored from assistance from Cesar Azpilicueta which was marginally ruled as offside.
In the 70th minutes, Ben Chilwell scored after Christian Pulisic directs a cross squarely in the box with Ben volleyed into the Villa net.
In the 89th minute, Cesar Azpilicueta was sent off after unsportsmanlike conduct after he was brought down by Jack Grealish in retaliation.
Chelsea finishes in fourth with 67 points despite the loss to Aston Villa, one above Leicester City after their 4-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Aston Villa claimed 11th position with 55 points.
