THE LAMP DEVOTION

John 3:3-7
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.

Jesus’ conversation with Nichodemus brought into light a profound truth that changed the game for all who seek a true relationship with God. Jesus said a man must be born again before he can enter the kingdom of God. This was a revolutionary teaching for Nichodemus, who was a teacher of the law then. He could not understand what that meant. Jesus had to explain it to him.
Jesus’ explanation also established that without Jesus, no man can become born again. Today, the world is full of several religions all of which focus on man’s efforts to know God and serve Him. For most of them, man can reach out to God by his efforts. None of these belief systems talk about being born again and how that happens.
Jesus came to establish the reverse, which is that God Himself is reaching out to lost humanity. To be born again, one must come to Jesus who alone gives the Spirit He mentioned to Nichodemus. Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit. No one can have full access to the Holy Spirit unless he comes to Jesus. When one comes to Jesus, He receives God’s spirit. That makes Jesus the only Way to get born again.

Prayer
1. Thank God that your eyes are opened to the truth and you have Jesus in your heart.
2. Pray for your relatives and friends who are struggling with the fact of Jesus being the only Way.
3. Father, please help me hold on to Jesus and tell others about Him.

Declarations
I acknowledge Jesus as the only Way to get back to God. I am born again, and I am not ashamed to let the world know about that. At every opportunity, I will let my world know that they need Jesus to be saved and become children of God. I declare that through this I will win many souls into the kingdom of God in the name of Jesus.
