THE LAMP DEVOTION
Exodus 15:3-6
The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name. 4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. 5 The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone. 6 “Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
This short passage is just a portion of the testimony Moses and the children of Israel made when they crossed the Red Sea. If you listen carefully, you realize they are talking not only of their safe crossing of the sea as walking on dry land. The fascinating thing about the event is that the same sea that opened up, closed up when others were crossing.
Their experience shows God’s superpower. This testimony is focusing more on the weakness of the gods of the Egyptians in the face of Jehovah the Almighty. They had been in Egypt for several years and seen how the people revered their gods. Now they were seeing superpower exhibited right before their eyes. For a people who had been in slavery several years, these are early experiences of the God their ancestors told them about.
Their experience reveals God’s sovereignty over all the powers of the world and their agencies working to derail humanity away from God. This is a super God at work, reducing all other gods to nothing.
God intentionally orchestrated things this way so He could show Himself not just to the Hebrews on their way to the Promised Land, but for us who are alive today. This is not magic or any of the tricks men do today to get people’s attention. This is raw manifestation of superiority in the spiritual warfare humanity is engaged in.
Prayer
1. Thank God for the constant affirmation of His power and sovereignty in the affairs of men.
2. Pray that no one will confuse you and make you doubt God at any time.
3. Father, please help me see You and Your Power at work in the world today.
Declarations
I declare that there is no power like unto the power of Jehovah; there is no one like Him. I am privileged to know Him as my heavenly Father, as the great God who is above all, as the One who always makes the separation and shows superiority in the spiritual warfare in the heavenlies. I declare that I am glad I serve a mighty God in the name of Jesus.
