THE LAMP DEVOTION
Exodus 3:20-22
20 So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders which I will do in its midst; and after that he will let you go. 21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed. 22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, namely, of her who dwells near her house, articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.â€*
The ten plagues and particularly the last one that made Pharaoh finally bow to let the children of Israel go are clearly miraculous. Unknown to the children of Israel, there was one more that was lingering. You can call that the bonus miracle. God asked the women to go to their Egyptian neighbors and ask them of jewelry, clothing, etc. The bible says they gave even more than the Israeli women asked for. They plundered the Egyptian women not by physical force. If this is not rare favor, what else could that be?
It is not our portion to question how God works for our welfare. We simply receive the breakthrough and worship Him. For that same reason also, we should not question God’s love or authority when we encounter unfavorable situations. The God of the mountain is the same God in the valley.
God’s favor still operates on behalf of those who have put their trust in Him. For as long as you are in charge of your life, you will face challenges that your human strength cannot surmount. God wants us to depend on Him and not feel ashamed about that. Whatever you do, never remove yourself from God’s grace. Without Jesus you can do nothing.
Prayer
1. Thank God for working in mysterious ways to bless you without your efforts.
2. Pray for a thankful heart each time you see God’s favor overtake you in a situation.
3. Father, for as long as I live, I abide under Your grace and favor.
Declarations
I declare that my Heavenly Father is sovereign and above all. He’s got the whole world in His hands and moves things according to His will. His grace is abundant and still available to all. Therefore, I will continually live under His grace. I depend on His favor in every situation that confronts me. I declare that my God will give me victory all the time in the name of Jesus.
