THE LAMP DEVOTION
Habakkuk 2:2-4
Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. 4 “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith
All human beings hate one thing – wait for that which we desperately want. Can you think of something you wanted to have so badly, and you told yourself, “Well, I think I would like this to happen to me five years from now?’’ We do short-term and long-term planning as motivational speakers tell us. When we look at what we have done on paper, it looks nice, and we almost feel a sense of assurance that good things are going to happen.
Then comes the reality of having to wait for that which we expect in 5 years. We start thinking whether we cannot speed things up so what we expect in five years will come within three years? The microwave mentality of this generation has not helped us in this matter. We want things to happen just like when we put something in the microwave and in five minutes it is ready for consumption.
The other reality we struggle with is that God is not a microwave Person. He works with time and plans. There is such a phrase in the Bible as “when the fullness of time was comesâ€. It appears in many instances in the Bible but this is stated differently. That phrase affirms that we cannot push God. It comes with the certainty that when God does things in His time, it is always excellent!!
Prayer
1. Thank God for His willingness to work with you in time though He is eternal.
2. Pray for the patience to wait on God for the fullness of His time in your life.
3. Father, please help me not to go ahead of You, but wait till You are ready to bless me beyond my imagination.
Declarations
I declare that my God is not limited to time. He lives in eternity and holds time in His hands. What He plans is perfect and His time to fulfill His purposes for our lives is most excellent. He makes all things beautiful in His time; and I will let Him work according to His plan so that I can enjoy His blessings in the name of Jesus.
