Ugandan Catholic Priest charged with murder
MASAKA– Reverend Father Richard Mugisha, a priest attached to Bisanje Catholic Parish has been charged with the murder of Ronald Kyeyune, 30, a suspected robber who had allegedly broken into the priest’s house on Tuesday.
Rev Fr. Richard Mugisha was summoned to appear at Police on Friday 15th/10/2021 but he was represented by his lawyer Alexander Lule.
It is alleged that the suspect was apprehended by the village security team after allegedly accessing the priest’s residence through the roof.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson says that Fr Mugisha called police to alert them about the arrest of a person who had allegedly broken into the windscreen of his motor vehicle. However, the suspect died shortly after arriving at Masaka Central Police Station.
He explains that the suspect who was apprehended by the village security team on a routine night patrol was naked and had smeared himself with motor vehicle oil which raises suspicion about his real motive.
However, he dismisses the fear that he was beaten by a mob.
Last year, Rev. Fr. Richard Mugisha was on the spot for using the pulpit to ask Ugandans to vote NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu!
