THE LAMP DEVOTION
Joshua 10:7-10
7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor. 8 And the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you.†9 Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal. 10 So the LORD routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.
Five nations had teamed up against the Gibeonites because they aligned themselves with Israel. God gave Joshua the green light to go and fight on behalf of the Gibeonites. They had to march all night to get to the camp of the enemy. It must have been a long night, yet when they got to the camp of the enemy it was more than daylight for Israel.
Israel routed their enemies. God miraculously let hailstones from heaven fall on their enemies. The hailstones fell selectively, hitting the enemies and not the Israelites.
The scripture says that more people were killed by the hailstones than Israel could slay by the sword.
Very often all we talk about is a long journey through the night. You have prayed and waited, and it looks as if day is not breaking any time soon. This is not the time to give up because no matter how long the night may seem, daylight always comes. When daylight comes it does not only drive the darkness away but brings to you that which you waited for. Your enemies who have made life difficult for you just set themselves up for hailstones from the Lord. Cheer up and smile because your victory and breakthrough are nigh.
Prayer
1. Thank God for the assurance that the night will not be forever; that day is near.
2. Pray that you will not be weary but brace yourself to see your enemies fall.
3. Father, thank You for giving me victory over my enemies.
Declarations
I declare that no matter how long the night may seem, the daylight is certain. My God is Light and that is what I am about to experience: His light. Whatever happened during the long wait is over; a new day has come. I come in the power of the Holy Ghost to receive answers to long awaited prayers in the name of Jesus.
