Ghana receives 1.5 million Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines from the German Government.
Ghana has received 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccination from the German government. The vaccines landed in Ghana on September 26, 2021 onboard a special cargo jet from DHL. The German Ambassador to Ghana, Daniel Krull handed the vaccines to the Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini at the Kotoka International Airport. Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director General of GHS, and Dr. Kwame Amponsah-Achiano, the EPI Programme Manager of the Service, were both present at the event.
The vaccines will soon be distributed throughout Ghana by GHS.
The government is committed to obtaining sufficient vaccines in order to make vaccines a national public good that is available to all citizens.
Between February and September, 2021, the country has, in total, received almost 3.4 million vaccines, which includes AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sputnik-V, and Johnson & Johnson.
A little over 1.6 million vaccine doses had been administered as of 14th September, 2021, with the remaining still being deployed.
Apart from the vaccines already received, about 19.6 million additional vaccine doses are being pursued by the government.
