Everybody remembers why they joined politics. What was it for you?
I will tell you mine. I join the Great NDC because I wanted to grow up in a country where opportunities are shared equally n fairly n not skewed to just some lucky few. The NDC being a social democratic dominance party have a broader ethnic and religious persuasion which allows it to accept each and everyone without any challenge.
Its also the party that tackles the challenges that confronts and limits the poor. Its known for laying bridges that allows the poor to ride into success thereby closing the gap between the rich and the poor.
I joined politics as an NDC 18yrs ago and I am optimistic that I will remain a lifelong NDC member.
Ever since then I have been noted for belonging to one faction of the organization. Peers to that one, I plead guilty, I am dedicated to the organizing factions of the party. The department that rolls up its sleeves and fight for the votes street by street, home to home, church to church, ghetto to ghetto, voter by voter etc and I won't stop fighting everyday to get the NPP government out and the NDC government IN. Proudly peers, I have served as a branch youth organiser, a Tein President, Executive of Global network for barefacts, a Constituency Youth Organiser convener of streetcampaign for JM and now a Deputy Regional Youth organiser. I should say its an honor to have these opportunities of service in the party i love most. In all of these opportunities, my job as well as yours was to make the NDC candidates win. Some we were successful, some we were not. Most likely I will be needing your support in the next regional youth elections. I will need that support so I can join you and President John Mahama to Put NDC back to the flagstaff house
How we win starts from a crucial decision. Are we prepared to go the same tangent with current leadership and patch up with them or are we prepared to calve a new path of unity and dedication towards getting the job done. A new way of bringing everyone on board to discharge our core job. I am convinced we need a new way of doing things and thats the alternative offer I have on the table.
Peers voters will always ask us for the difference between US and the npp. For me its this, the npp is a bunch of people who put profit before people. The NDC party puts people before profit and always tries to give the people a voice. Thats true today as it has been true 29 yrs ago. Indeed doing things together and with the support of the people is what defines us.
The NPP will always have money but NDC has soo much more....we are a movement.
But in many instances, if we are honest, our bond with the people have been broken, to win next time we need to reconnect with the grassroot to tell our story.
The first step is to listen to the voters and their plight and draw down the wisdom that flows from that. That's why I like to speak regularly with voters and I expect you all to do same.
To do this we will have to invest in our members to adopt to modern ways of interacting with voters.
I will confidently tell you the type of Regional youth organiser i will like to be. I will not accept any form of abuse by anybody in the party or at anybody in the party, I will certainly not accept another defeat by the npp in the region.
Peers our party is the greatest thing to us needed more now than ever, but it doesn't belong to us. We are passing through it and that we owe it the responsibility to look after it and pass it on those who come after us better than we found it. I promise thats what I will do.
