The population of Ghana not evenly distributed. Some areas are densely populated, some moderately populated and others sparsely populated. Areas in Ghana around Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi - Takoradi and Tamale have very high population .The population density is about 1000 peoples per square kilometer.
Other areas around Obuasi, Cape - Coast, Aflao ,Koforidua ,Borganta Sunyanei and Ho are moderately populated. These areas have got population density between 100 to 1000 people per square kilometer. Other areas , most especially the rural areas of Ghana have sparse population. The population density in these areas are less than 100 people per square kilometer. Causes for the uneven distribution of Ghana's Population:
* Physical factors- rainfall, vegetation, soil, water and the relief.
* Economic factors: industries, market centers, roads, farming, mining etc.
