THE LAMP DEVOTION
Deuteronomy 6:20-23*
“When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which the LORD our God has commanded you?’ 21 then you shall say to your son: ‘We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand; 22 and the LORD showed signs and wonders before our eyes, great and severe, against Egypt, Pharaoh, and all his household. 23 Then He brought us out from there, that He might bring us in, to give us the land of which He swore to our fathers
I do not mean to be mean, but when you look back into your life, do you have stories to tell your children about the hand of the Lord that has been upon you all the years of your life till now? The answer to this question is not forced. It comes as spontaneously as David’s stories of God’s deliverance, or even those of the Israelites in this passage. They could look back and in the flash of a moment and recall all the Lord their God did for them in their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land.
Take this opportunity to recapture your life experiences from the time you were born. Carefully and prayerfully ask the Lord to remind you because we forget so easily. Other times, we ignore some of the things God did because they did not happen with thunder and lightning. They look too small and insignificant, but upon second thought you see how they all contributed to who you are today.
Learn from God’s instructions to the Israelites. When your children ask questions, you should have nothing to say except the goodness of the Lord.
Prayer
1. Thank God for the many things He has done for you since you were born.
2. Pray for remembrance through the enablement Holy Spirit so you can see everything God did for you till today.
3. Father, please open my eyes to see Your deliverances, so I will always worship You.
Declarations
I declare today that every good thing l have today is because of God’s goodness. God is the only reason I am alive today. He is the explanation to anything good anyone sees in my life. If He gives me more life in this world, my story will continue to be the same; full of the blessing of God and for which I will be eternally thankful.
