THE LAMP DEVOTION
Acts 2:1-4
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
This is one passage of scripture that every charismatic Christian knows. Nothing excites us more than the fact that God entered in our space to dwell in us and empower us for living above what the ‘normal’ person will.
Let’s look at it. It says they were all with one accord in one place. Now that immediately means they were physically together in one place. Beyond that was the other factor that made the difference – they were all of the same mind. The one mind they had was that they were there in high expectancy. It was not just another gathering as people who had followed Jesus when He was on earth as a Man.
They were there in obedience to Jesus’ command and in great expectation that something great was going to happen just as Jesus said. This was beyond just simple faith. It was faith that God’s word was going to happen. When you get to the point where you know nothing except what God said and you are looking forward for it to happen, there is no way you are going to miss God’s visitation.
One of the expectancies that seem to be absent in the church today is the return of Jesus Christ our Lord to the earth as He promised. If that expectancy captures our hearts, it will make a lot of difference like the Day of Pentecost. How expectant are you for a revival of fresh fire?
Prayer
1. Thank God for continually pouring out His Spirit upon the world.
2. Pray that you will always position yourself to receive the outpouring again.
3. Father, please keep me in great expectancy of Your visitation any moment from now.
Declaration
I declare that I am ready for fresh fire from the Holy Spirit. My mind is made up, my whole being is yearning for this revival of fire and power. I put myself in great expectancy. I declare that nothing matters to me now than the unique experience of the Holy Spirit capturing my whole being again in the name of Jesus.
