THE LAMP DEVOTION
Numbers 13:30-33
30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.†31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.†32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.â€
Today’s passage presents us with one of the most unfortunate statements from God’s people. These are the people upon whom God Himself put His name. God did not just call them His people. See what He did on their behalf, right from Egypt through the wilderness.
The sad thing was that it was not the inhabitants who told the Israelites they were like grasshoppers. It was God’s people who saw themselves as grasshoppers. When did God reduce His children into grasshoppers?
Is it possible that could happen to us today? Absolutely! When someone or a situation confronts us, we should look beyond the situation and look to God instead of looking at the situation. Recount all God has done for you and your family and loved ones for all these years. Build your personal confidence in the fact that you have a God who is powerful. See yourself as His child, that He is ready to fight for you. Reckon more with God than yourself as a lifestyle.
Prayer
1. Acknowledge God and all He has done for you all these years.
2. Pray that your faith will steadily grow in God to the point that nothing will scare you.
3. Heavenly Father, please help my faith to grow and see myself as Your cherished child.
Declarations
I declare that whatever Jesus is, He is making me the same. Jesus said He is the Light of the world, and He told me I am the light of the world. He said I am His witness. He said I am His voice to the nations. He is transforming me into His full image. I declare that l am no mere human; I am becoming like my Savior in the name of Jesus.
