2020 Olympics: Government announces reward for medal winners.

Mustapha Ussif, The Minister of Youth and Sports has confirmed that the state will pay out a financial reward to any Ghanaian athlete that wins a medal at the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The Minister said that per the reward scheme, gold medal winners will receive $5,000, silver medal winners will receive $4,000 and bronze medal winners will receive $3,000.
The Minister had earlier in July stated that a reward will be announced when the athletes come with medals from Japan.
As at now, only one Ghanaian athlete from a 14-member contingent has won a medal. Samuel Takyi, featherweight boxer settled for bronze after losing to American Ragan Duke in the semi-final of their bout staged earlier today at the RyÅgoku Kokugika Hall in Tokyo.
