THE LAMP DEVOTION
Numbers 10:33-36
33 So they departed from the mountain of the Lord on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them. 34 And the cloud of the Lord was above them by day when they went out from the camp. 35 So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said: “Rise up, O Lord! Let Your enemies be scattered and let those who hate You flee before You.” 36 And when it rested, he said: “Return, O Lord, To the many thousands of Israel.”
This prayer that is easily attributed to King David actually originated from Moses as he led the children of Israel through the wilderness. Here was Moses and the children of Israel searching for a resting place, with the ark of the covenant going ahead of them. If you study the bible well, you know that the ark of the covenant symbolized God’s presence at the time.
Moses, knowing what issues could come his way, just as they had experienced in earlier years, called forth for the presence and power of God to stay with them. God was not asleep or resting. This is one of the human languages we use to address God, which He understands. He knows our weak frame.
Moses’s statement was a request to God to do battle on their behalf. Each time this phrase comes up, it is often a call for God to demonstrate His power on behalf of His children. Since we need His intervention in our lives every moment, it simply follows that this is a prayer we will often pray, particularly in this year when our cry is, “Let God Arise”.
Prayer
Thank God for the assurance that He is always there for you and your loved ones.
Pray that you will never forget to call on Him when you have to.
Father, please help me stay close to You at all times as I navigate the issues of my life.
Declarations
I declare that God my heavenly Father is always there waiting for that call from me to arise on my behalf. When He arises, my enemies scatter. No one can stand against my Elohim; it means they cannot stand against me too. My heavenly Father is too great for anyone, and I declare by divine authority that as He is, so am I in this world in the name of Jesus.
