Don't Be Scared To Marry
THE LAMP DEVOTION
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. 11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Too many people are scared to marry in this current dispensation. Even those who marry enter with mixed feelings. Forget about the glamour of the wedding and the excitement that accompanies weddings, even though some of the cost of weddings creates potential problems for the young couple. Marriage is beyond the wedding. There are too many stories flooding the corridors of life that people are full of fear regarding marriage.
Men complain of the lack of quality women to marry and women also complain of men who have no clue about marriage. This is the matrix we find ourselves in. Valentine excitement fades a few days from today and people come back to whatever troubles they were battling with. There is too much pessimism about marriage these days, with some women choosing to be career women rather than to marry.
Don’t be scared to marry. Marriage is a good thing. God Himself instituted it. He said it is not good that the man should be alone. At least you have God on your side for marriage. Instead of meditating on the many troubles people have had in their marital relationships, fill your mind and heart with every good thing God says about two becoming one, as in today’s passage. Remember, it will happen to you according to your faith and expectation.
Prayer
Thank God for instituting marriage with every blessing associated with it.
Pray that God will help you focus on His word and not the many problems you have heard about bad marriages.
Father, please intervene in the marriages around me and give them all the freshness and vitality they need.
Declarations
I declare that marriage is good. That is what God said and nothing changes that. I uphold all the principles set out in scripture for a happy marriage. They do not change, and the blessings of marriage shall be my portion and I declare the same for my friends and loved ones. I speak stability and peace in the marriages that are close to me in the name of Jesus!
