Top 10 African Countries With The Best Education Systems

World Economic Forum assessed over 140 countries including 38 from Africa based on skill development. Factors considered include developing digital literacy, interpersonal skills and the ability to think critically and creatively. You are reminded to note that scores are on a scale of 0-10, where 10 represents the optimum situation.
10. Namibia: Taking the 100th position on Global Education System, Namibia is the 10th best African country in terms of education system. Namibia achieved this with a score of 5.27 points. The country's literacy rate stood at 88.2% as at 2020.
9. Egypt: Being the 3rd best in North Africa, Egypt is 9th in Africa and 99th in the Global Education System with a score of 5.28 points. Egypt's literacy rate was 71% as at 2020.
8. Cape Verde: Such a small country like Cape Verde is doing so well in terms of formal education. In the Global Education System, the country is ranked the 98th best. In Africa, it comfortably sits at the 8th position with a score of 5.33. The country's literacy rate was 80% in the year 2020.
7. Kenya: It is not surprising to see Kenya at this position, both in Africa and the world. Kenya is undoubtedly the best in East Africa when it comes to education. It is ranked 7th in Africa and 95th in Global Education System. The East African country with literacy rate at 78.7% as at 2020 obtained a score of 5.54 points.
6. Botswana: Botswana is the 92nd best in the Global Education System and 6th best in Africa with a score of 5.67 points and a literacy rate of 88% as at 2020.
5. Algeria: Undoubtedly, Algeria is the second best in the North African education system ranking. It takes the 88th position in Global Education System and 5th in Africa. The literacy rate of the country stood at 75% as at 2020. It got to this position with a score of 5.74 points.
4. South Africa: South Africa is the 4th best in Africa. The country situated at the southernmost part of Africa takes the 84th position in the Global Education System with a score of 5.84 points. It will interest you to know that South Africa has the highest literacy rate in Africa, 94%.
3. Mauritius: With a score of 6.1 points, the small Island is the 74th best in Global Education System and 3rd in Africa.
2. Tunisia: Tunisia is the best country in North Africa in terms of education system. It is the 2nd in Africa and 71st in the Global education system. Its literacy rate was estimated to be at 81% as at 2015. Tunisia scored 6.1% to get here.
1. Seychelles: Setting the record as the only African country to be in the top 50 countries with the best education systems, Seychelles has got a lot to talk about. The Island is the first and only country in Africa to have fully achieved the "Education For All" goal set by UNESCO. It takes the 43rd position with a score of 6.93 points, ahead of Ukraine, Hungary, Russia, and UAE.
