Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has denied reports circulating on social media that he has endorsed Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen for the flagbership position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 elections, against Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He described the contents of the reports as “irresponsible, misguided, tribalistic and ethnocentric†which he will never make.
In a statement issued on Friday October 15, his office said “The Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor registers its dismay and disappointment to a social media circulation purported to indicate Hon Osafo Maafo’s support for Hon Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry, as against that of HE Dr Mahaamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana in the perceived presidential flagbeareship race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
With reference to the said circulation,
we emphasise that Hon Yaw Osafo-Maafo has never uttered such irresponsible, misguided, tribalistic and ethnocentric statement either in public or private directly or indirectly and has no cause to do so.
The senior Presidential advisor is currently in Dubai at the invitation of the Global Business Forum Africa 2021 during which he also launched Ghana’s participation in EXPO 2020
