THE LAMP DEVOTION
Isaiah 7:13-14
Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel
One of the remarkable things about our Lord Jesus Christ is that His coming was prophesied long ago. It is amazing what prophecies were made concerning the very details of His coming. Today’s scripture written by the Prophet Isaiah about seven hundred years before the first Christmas clearly stated He was going to be born of a virgin.
Since the beginning of the world, there had been no occasion where a woman all by herself has conceived and given birth. That was how God planned it so we would have no doubt about how special that Baby was going to be. The virgin birth of Jesus certainly separates Him from all sons of men born of a woman. This prophecy just lines up with God’s declaration in the Garden of Eden that the Seed of the woman shall bruise the head of the serpent. It is clear that Isaiah’s prophecy was just affirming what was said in Genesis 3:15
Jesus’ virgin birth puts Him in a category different from all of us. We are conceived out of the desire and will of our parents. That is where the inheritance of the Adamic nature is imparted to us. By the virgin birth, our lord Jesus Christ did not inherit our sinful nature of Adam. This is what made His sacrifice acceptable to the Father. This is what makes His blood holier than the blood of bulls and goats and for that matter, any other human as well. Think about the virgin birth again this Christmas.
God bless all young ladies who are keeping their virginity till marriage.
Prayer
1. Thank God Jesus’ coming was a clear fulfillment of prophecy, showing His superiority.
2. Pray for your faith in Jesus as Saviour to be strengthened this Christmas.
3. Father, please help me find opportunities to share my new understanding of Christmas with my lost friends.
Declarations
I declare today that I belong to the Savior of the world the only single individual who qualifies to shed His blood for my sins. I declare that as His sacrifice was acceptable to God, so am I acceptable before God my heavenly Father. I declare that this Christmas, I am having fun knowing that the blood of Jesus our living Savior was shed for my sins.
