THE LAMP DEVOTION
Leviticus 6:11-13
11 Then he shall take off his garments, put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 12 And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. 13 A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.
This passage is an instruction God gave to the Levites in the Old Testament but has a lot of implications for us living in the New Testament. We do not have physical altars like they had, but we are expected to always keep the fire burning. The new covenant makes each one of us a priest unto God. Our lives are the sacrifices we make unto God every day. A life totally yielded to God is the sacrifice.
We have the Holy Spirit burning in our hearts, so we do not need an external fire. Keeping the fire burning is equivalent to being filled with the Spirit and allowing the Holy Spirit to always luminate our hearts. When He illuminates our hearts, worship shall not cease from our hearts. Worship is one critical sacrifice the New Testament priest offers to God.
When the Spirit burns in our hearts, He keeps us always walking in righteousness. That is when our light shines before our world and they give glory to God. When God’s light keeps burning in our hearts, we also manifest the fruit of the Spirit; we walk everywhere in the glow of the glory of God. This is the heritage of every New Testament believer and we must claim it. Keep the fire burning!
Prayer
1. Thank God for giving us the Holy Spirit when we received Jesus as Lord and Savior.
2. Pray that instead of quenching the spirit, you will always let His fire light your heart.
3. Father, please help me to allow the fire of Your Spirit to always burn in my heart.
Declarations
I declare that my body is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the fire of the Holy Spirit shall continually burn in my heart. I shall continue to walk in the glow of the Spirit to light my world. I declare by divine authority that the fire of the Spirit will continually drive every darkness out of me till I am full of the Light of God in the name of Jesus.
