THE LAMP DEVOTION
Isaiah 11:1-4
There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. 3 His delight is in the fear of the LORD, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears; 4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked
By now I am sure you can feel the atmosphere. The air is already full of the peculiar feeling that happens only at this time of the year. It is not the weather; neither is it because of the month. It is not even because it is the end of the year. It is because it is Christmas time again. There can be no substitute for the Christmas celebration.
Despite what it has become in some parts of the world today, particularly in the western world, Christmas still holds what it is – a remembrance of the incarnation of God into human existence. It is time to shout on the roof tops and call for the celebration of the entrance of the Rod of Jesse that entered our world several years ago for our good.
If you understand this true meaning of Christmas, you will enjoy the celebration even when the season is over. If not, the end of the season can leave you with an emptiness that nothing in this world can fill. You also have the responsibility to make someone’s Christmas a memorable one. Think about that.
Prayer
1. Thank God Christmas is around again for us to celebrate Christ’s incarnation.
2. Pray that your preparation for Christmas will factor in God’s entry into our world 2000 years ago.
3. Father, please help me to see how I can be a blessing to someone this Christmas.
Declarations
I declare today that I am blessed to see another celebration of the coming of the Messiah into human existence. No matter what my experiences have been these 11 months of the year, I embrace Christmas in its totality, and I receive every blessing God has for me as I celebrate His Son’s coming into our world in the name of Jesus.
